|I do commissions in watercolor and digital upon request. Message me for pricing rates as each commission is unique and requires varying amount of time and detail.|
Some examples of my mediums and possible styles are below.
How long have you been on DeviantArt?
Almost 10 years! I remember the day I joined and made my first moody, pre-teenish username and used the journal to bitch and update about things no one read or cared about. The good-ole’ days.
What does your username mean?
I wanted a memorable word and played with a lot of different ones. I ended up wanting something with a “calm” feeling and then I read the definition for Calmality on Urban Dictionary (the most scientific of sources) and it said “one word describing an event, the meaning follows - "when the calm evening wind breaks the the absolute silence and tranquility left in the wake of total devastation, restoring an awkward peace to the scarred land" and I loved it.
Introverted, calm, independent
Are you left or right handed?
What was your first deviation?
What is your favourite type of art to create?
Illustrative work. Something that tells a story and/or transports the viewer somewhere else. Magical, soul-entrancing art.
If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
Digital. I’m working on it. Some people are just gurus of lighting and tones and I bow to their skill.
What was your first favourite?
I was on a Shaman King streak
Illustrations in general. Something breathtaking, imaginative, and tells a story.
Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
Way too many to choose just one! So take a look at these guys. Any of them could easily be my fav.
I have been such a terrible friend ugh. I used to spend so much more time on DA but now I’m all over the place, but I still remember people who are super awesome like Kettlehead and RiseDarkMoon or any of the artists I look up to really (see previous question) and I’d love to get together to talk some art!
How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
I’ve been absolutely impacted. I’ve made many awesome, talented friends who have inspired and pushed me to get better. I still remember a handful of incredible comments I’ve gotten that make me remember why I love making art so much. I also met my employer through DA and that altered my life quite a bit
What are your preferred tools to create art?
Watercolor, ink, photoshop
What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
My studio. Even better if it’s clean and I have a cup of tea.
What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
Probably the first time I got a DD. I was so shocked and honored. It felt like I really accomplished something and hit some sort of milestone.
Happy birthday DA! It feels like a birthday for me at almost a decade. Thanks for giving us such an inspiration art community!
My name is Faryn and I live in the tundra that is Minnesota. I’m a recent college grad currently working as a freelance illustrator trying to secure my dream job in art. I enjoy tea on an obsessive level, Florence + the Machine songs, working insanely hard to have time to do nothing, and the company of my two very fluffy cats, Cash and Finnegan. I love to meet new artists and gain friends who share and appreciate this passion so feel free to chat with me. Thanks for stopping by!
