The colors are so perfectly balanced with enough variety that its a very well rounded piece. The sharp ink stands out and the technique used with the folds of the blankets melded with the idea of some form of danger or mystery is wonderful and transparent. Over all the simple detail really shows the handmade feel of the water color that is sometimes lost in the ultimate need to stay in the lines at all cost- I find the rough texture perfect coupled with the theme of the piece. A very well watercolor I enjoy to the fullest ^o^ <3
it comes across to me as a loving/protective picture. i put in a print request, because i would love to have it here.
i used to paint with watercolour before i became disabled and i was very interested in tea painting. i've seen some lovely things done with different kinds of teas, like berry ones with a lot of hibiscus to make a nice rich magenta.
it's also comforting to see the texture of the watercolour paper or board. that and seeing brush strokes are some of my favourite things about traditional art, because it anchors them in human creation.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments, they just made my day. I think I may submit this as a print. Sometimes it's hard to judge what works will actually be popular so thanks for the suggestion.
I am so sorry to hear that, I cannot image having to stop creating artwork due to a disability. Tea is a lot of fun to experiment with color, that's why I love it so much. Well, I wish you the best of luck with any art you choose to try. I would encourage you to try again someone. It can really be a therapy.
The paper texture does show through in my work and I always wonder if it bothers people. I could use an illustration board for watercolor to make it more flat I suppose, but I like hearing that people like to see the organic strokes and texture in the work too. Thank you so much for the feedback and encouragement! I appreciate every word!
thank you for putting it up as a print, and apologies it took me forever to find this message and order it. it will likely join the things over/around my bed.
i always love paper textures and strokes, and particularly with watercolours, the edges where the colour gathered when it dried. the extra textures it adds. the bits of underpainting highlighted by areas not entirely gone over with another layer, creating wonderful contrasts with sharp and/or rough edges. just lovely.
Don't you apologize! Thank you so much for the print order I hope you enjoy it. It's one of my favorites from my gallery and I'm so thrilled someone likes it as much as I do. There may be more like it in the future if I find some time.
Thank you for all the encouragement and support, it really means a lot to me.
Ahhh I do very much like this little boy, and this spirit Oh I do very much like it, yes I do indeed~ .... I don't get it, it's just pretty it's like.. I don't even know what to say
I love the energy flowing throughout this composition. My favourite touch is the simple detail of the thin-lined transparency when things overlap, since it helps draw my imagination into the scene. ♥
Is it the weird ghost guy from Spirited Away? Knowing how much trouble he caused "Sen" I really want to wake up the little girl in your painting. Love the flow you have given the piece... misty magic
It is based off some of the Spirited Away character styles, but no, it's not a portrait of Noface. He is terrifying! I wanted something that looked more like a protector or dream spirit. Hopefully nothing sinister. XD Thank you so much! I appreciate every word!
